Christ University in Bangalore, India, formerly known as Christ College (Autonomous) is now a Deemed University. Christ College, founded in 1969 by the fathers of Carmelites of Mary Immaculate, the first indigenous Catholic religious congregation in India, is managed by the CMI.
The CMI runs around 400 schools, 30 colleges and a number of hospitals at various locations in India. It is the first University in India managed by the Catholic Church. The University is spread over a large campus of 25 acres (100,000 m2) which is part of the 100-acre (400,000 m2) Dharmaram College Campus located in the central part of Bangalore city.
Christchurch College was recognized by the Scholarship Committee of the University of India, (UGC), 17 June 1972. It was among the first schools to be offered for assessment and was approved by the NAAC, an agency funded by the UGC in 1998 and reaccredited in 2005.
Christ College has the honor of being the first university in the state of Karnataka to be approved by national and Accreditation Council (NAAC) for quality education. It is currently rated an A + institution by NAAC and was recognized as a university with potential for excellence.
Christ of the University (of Ajita) offers Bachelor, Graduate, M. Phil and certification programs in various academic disciplines judged in law faculties, education, science, social science and language and Commerce and Management.
