US Open Tennis 2009 Results

The US Open is the most open and very competitive grand slam tournament of the season. With injuries and the strains of the ATP and WTA Tours having taken their toll on the world's highest ranked tennis players, the door to grand slam glory is opened to talented up-and-coming tennis stars.

The US Open results finally knocked out one of the mens top seeds yeasterday, as Andy Roddick went down in five sets. while Roddick will not repeat his Wimbledon success, the US Open results finally knocked out the embattled women's top seed, and some other big names.

And in a second round of the men of the matches, world number 1 Roger Federer was too strong for his opponent Simon Greul, by beating him 6-3, 7-5, 7-5. Federer now advances to the third round, like Lleyton Hewitt, when he beat Juan Ignacio Chela.

Yesterday was also a good day for the Williams sisters, both in the third round. Venus Williams was facing Bethanie Mattek in straight sets, winning 6-4 6-2. Her sister played Melinda Czink and also won the series 6-1 and 6-1.
