BMW Z8 was a car produced by German automaker BMW from 2000 to 2003. It got E52 BMW model code. The Z8 is the flavor of the 1997 production of the Z07 concept car, which was designed by Henrik Fisker at BMW's Design Works in Southern California. The Z07 originally was designed as a styling exercise intended to awaken and celebrate the 1956-'59 BMW 507th The Z07 was a sensation at the Tokyo Auto Salon '97. The overwhelming popularity of the concept led to the decision of BMW to produce a limited production model called the Z8. 5703 Z8s was built, about half of which is exported to the USA.
The original Z07 was designed with production in mind. As a result, the necessary practical and regulatory considerations, very few changes in the production model. However, the windshield of the Z8 was extended upward, and a larger front airdam was mounted. Both changes were implemented to provide aerodynamic stability and a reasonably quiet cabin. The four spoke steering wheel concept was replaced by a spoke design. The roof has been changed into a double bubble with one going to fall to a single dome with a truncated convex backside. Driver exotic concept side hull fairing was removed to allow easy handling of the power soft top.
