The U. S. Open 2009 will be held August 31 to 13 September, 2009, at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing Meadows, New York.
Former World No. 1 and 2005 U. S. Open champion Kim Clijsters, has to be in U. of this year's Open with a wildcard in the two years of his retirement from professional tennis because of injuries.
The 2009 U. S. Open opening ceremony will feature a special night in Arthur Ashe Stadium court with the celebration of athletes who have devoted their energies to "give back" to support a number of worthwhile causes. Among the sports stars to be honored, is Andre Agassi, Mia Hamm, David Robinson and Doug Flutie. The special ceremony, hosted by Good Morning America co-anchor Robin Roberts, will also include an appearance by New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg and will be broadcast live on ESPN2.
