DECEMBER 1
About the Day
World AIDS Day is celebrated annually on 1 December. The World Health Organization established World AIDS Day in 1988. World AIDS Day provides governments, national AIDS programs, faith organizations, community organizations and individuals the opportunity to raise awareness and focus attention on the global AIDS epidemic.
Up to World AIDS Day on 1 December, Catholic Relief Services is the recognition of life and the incredible efforts of people living with HIV around the world, those who have died from diseases and the work of numerous organizations dedicated to reversing the effects of the pandemic.
The resources on this site provide detailed information about the global consequences of a pandemic, to ways to participate and pay attention to your community, how to involve the media and the stories provide a window into the lives of people we serve.
CRS has long been a leader in global humanitarian response to HIV, in close collaboration for over 20 years with partners in Africa, Asia, Latin America and the U.S. to expand care and support for people living with HIV.
